Broadcast HD has been around for a several years, and many local news stations have adopted a HD newscast.  HD is the new generation of picture and sound quality, a new set of standards for the quality of television. It is the most important change that has been made to the television format since we switched from watching black and white to watching color television many, many years ago. Without getting too technical, the picture that most of us are used to seeing on our TV sets today, called standard definition, has at most 480 visible lines of detail, whereas HD video or TV has as many as 1,080.

What matters most is that HD video looks substantially sharper and clearer than anything you else you have seen!
